FAQ
-
Our mission is to support women in tech through all stages of motherhood.
-
Right now, our community is primarily in a Facebook group, which is open to new members by invitation only.
To join, you must have a friend in the group who will invite you and walk you through the process. If you’d like to stay in the loop about what else we’re up to, please sign up for our mailing list at the bottom of this site. -
Nope, our group is free.
-
To be a member of the group, you must:
work in tech now or in the past. Tech is defined as any job at a tech company, or any tech job at a non-tech company. The group is not for tech hobbyists, students or others trying to break into tech.
not identify as a man.
identify as a mom. This includes step moms, adoptive moms, foster moms, those trying to conceive, or someone who’s lost a pregnancy or child.
-
We are a support group for people who share the experience of being a mom in tech. It’s not intended for people looking to break into the industry, though we hope to see you in the group once you’ve broken in!
-
We don’t allow promotions of any kind in the group, so it would not be a good fit for you if that’s your goal.
-
We’re a support group for people who already identify as a mom in tech, so we encourage you to join us once you’re actively trying to grow your family.
-
As pet owners, many of our mods understand the special bond between humans and their furkids. That said, our group is specifically focused on supporting moms of human kiddos.
-
If you were in tech in the past, you qualify to join. Our goal is to have a community of folks who all have the shared experience of being a mom in tech, whether now or in the past.

We don’t currently have a public Slack channel. We are aware that there is at least one Slack channel using our trademarked name, but please know that it is not affiliated with this organization.
-
Our community is a robust place where people can get information, share experiences, attend events, job seek, and talk about just about any topic you can imagine. Members find a judgment-free space to ask for advice, share career dilemmas and wins, make friends, and connect with people who all have a shared experience: being a mom in tech. We also have 20+ active subgroups on a variety of topics, not all related to motherhood or tech.
-
As of June 2023, we have roughly 18 thousand members, with more joining every day.
-
The strength of our group has always been the trust and vulnerability we show each other. When anonymous posting first became available, we did try it out. But within days more than half our posts were coming in anonymously, and the sense of community drastically diminished. We removed the anonymous option at that point, and no longer allow it.*
*The only exceptions are our group for Single Moms in Tech (because posts there often have sensitive legal and safety implications) and our Jobs and Networking group (because we recognize that you don't want coworkers to know you're looking for a job). -
Mint is the term of affection we use to describe members of the group. It’s a nickname playing off of Moms in Tech.
-
No, we don’t allow advertising or promotion of any kind in the group.
-
We don’t allow market research, although we do have an entrepreneurs subgroup where you can ask for input from others.
-
Yes! If you identify as a mom in tech and are pregnant or actively trying to grow your family, you can join.
-
Not officially, no. We are registered as an LLC, because it seemed the simplest way to establish ourselves and our trademark. However, no one on the mod team makes any money from Mints. We are a 100% volunteer crew, and all of our expenses are paid out of pocket by our founders. We do sell t-shirts and other swag, and any money we make there goes to offset operating expenses. We are not in danger of breaking even any time soon.
